Pilgerhaus

Lititz Borough, Lancaster County – A group of investors (Dennis Beck, Bill Oehme and Ned Pelger) were concerned about the decay of an historic Lititz landmark – the Hershey apartment building – and decided to purchase the building and completely renovate it into modern condominiums. This involved some demolition of the existing building and dilapidated garage at the back end of the site, and then the construction of a new building addition to complement the existing historic structure. Providing the needed parking for the 12 proposed condominiums proved to be a great challenge, resulting in the unorthodox solution of a two-tier parking garage. Diehm worked with the new owners and the Borough to obtain the needed zoning approvals and land development plan approval. Today, the building is both a monument to the history of Lititz and a thoroughly modern condominium.
